Interplast Receiving Three Suture Boxes
Contents of a Suture Box
Manningham Rotary developed this program to support the amazing work of Australian volunteer surgeons in developing countries. Each box costs $1000 and contains sutures and medical materials of a quality essential for visiting surgeons and ensuring improved outcomes for newly-trained indigenous medicos.
The club recently sent three boxes to the Philippines and three more to Papua New Guinea where they are being used by Dr Ben Yapo, a surgeon trained by Paddy Dewan. One-time Rotary Exchange Student Dr Janine Rowse came back from Bougainville last year and reported an urgent need for sutures. Manningham Rotary plan to provide sutures for her forthcoming return trip.
